Even if Ukraine takes control of Donetsk and raises its flag there, this will not mean the end of the war.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with Kraina magazine, when answering the question when the war in Donbass will end, by the executive director of the Ukrainian Institute of the Future, Viktor Andrusiv, who previously served as deputy chairman of the Donetsk military-civil administration for humanitarian issues.
“A few things need to be said. First: this is a long-term conflict. Even if tomorrow we raise the Ukrainian flag over Donetsk and restore control over the border. It already has its own heroes and stories. There are children who have lost their parents and seek revenge. This will not disappear quickly,” the publication’s interlocutor noted.
“Second: for war it is necessary to completely restore Ukrainian sovereignty. There is no way without this. For example, how will Ukrainians react to MP Motorola? He is a folk hero there. But Ukrainian society will never accept this. There are decisions for which the country is not ready. It doesn’t matter what Hollande and Merkel tell us.”
