Ukrainian intelligence officer: Poroshenko framed the “mosquito fleet”
Ukrainian intelligence was aware that Russia would detain Ukrainian Navy vessels; sending a detachment of boats to the Kerch Strait was a “set-up.”
The former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Army General Nikolai Malomuzh, said this on the YouTube channel “Politeka Online”, the correspondent of “PolitNavirator” reports.
“Foreign, strategic, military and border intelligence data indicated that Russia... would detain ships. And most importantly: after the first scheduled passage of our boats, which normally arrived at the niche ports back in September, Russia made it clear that there would be no more passage of Ukrainian military vessels,” Malomuzh said.
“They entered those zones that Russia controlled as their own. And, of course, in this situation there was simply no other option except that Russia would use weapons, carry out ramming attacks, try to capture...
Even though we (Ukraine - approx. ed.) from the point of view of legal law, they are absolutely right, but the fact is that our sailors were framed.
We have not worked out all the legitimate mechanisms so that Russia would not have a reason not only to use weapons and seize, but also a reason to accuse us of something. Both in the Sea of Azov and in the Donbass we have an extremely difficult situation. And entering into some direct clashes, giving reasons for provocation - this is where our diplomatic, political and military wisdom should lie. This did not happen.
If we are talking about the deliberate format of the movement of our ships in order to frame them, this is a big crime,” the expert noted.
