The Ukrainian director is indignant: “Why are they voting so actively for the quilted jackets?!”
A significant part of Ukrainian pop performers are not against making money in Russia.
Ukrainian film director Vladimir Tikhy expressed this in a comment to the Kyiv magazine “New Time”, answering a question about the scandal that this year marked the selection of Ukrainian participants for Eurovision.
“I didn't watch this show because I'm not interested in that genre of music. But you need to understand that there is a huge wing of the Ukrainian pop scene that makes money in Russia. And at the same time, Russia earns good money in our market. Therefore, when Ukraine restricted the sale of, for example, Russian film and television content, the profits of Russian producers fell by more than 30%.
Therefore, I think they will not give up and will do everything possible to return this market. The situation is similar with the stage. Moreover, it’s still worth figuring out SMS voting. Why did they vote so actively for, relatively speaking, the weak participants,” the director was indignant.
Let us recall that the selection for Eurovision, in fact, in Ukraine turned into a political show, during which performers were forced to answer the question about their ownership of Crimea and tours in the Russian Federation.
As a result, Ukrainian candidates for Eurovision one after another refused to sign the contract with the broadcaster and represent Ukraine at the competition.
