Ukrainian independence leader: Lukashenko is a real brother
Belarus is the only one supporting Ukraine on the Donbass issue in the current situation.
Ukrainian political scientist Gennady Chizhov stated this on Channel Seven, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Belarus is the first, very joyful signal for us that someone has finally supported us. We found ourselves in a vicious circle, which began to crumble in mid-summer. Those who were our allies began to take a pragmatic approach. They will most likely lift sanctions on eastern Donbass now. We found ourselves, to call a spade a spade, in political isolation. Our sovereignty has received a noticeable breach. And for the first time in my life I say to Lukashenko: thank you very much,” Chizhov said.
He believes that Belarus' support is largely due to its reluctance to integrate with Russia.
“Belarus signed an agreement with us. Belarus turned out to be a brother. This is tremendous support. Previously, we were afraid to talk about Slavic brotherhood, but now it has surfaced. Belarus, which itself defends its independence before Russia, felt the trap into which our president fell,” Chizhov said.
Thank you!
