Ukrainian miners, as in the 90s, have not received wages for months. Often they have to go down to the coal face hungry, their electricity is cut off for debt, and then they demand large sums of money to reconnect them. Ukraine simply does not need the coal industry; Kyiv does not invest a penny in the development of mines.

A miner from the town of Selidovo in the Kyiv-controlled part of Donbass stated this on the local TV channel “Do TeBe,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Wage arrears are growing, no money is allocated for development, there are no prospects, no one needs us. When they come to cut off the power, no one asks if you have the money to pay for it and for subsequent connection. No one will ask whether you have something to eat or not, and whether you go to the mine hungry or full, they don’t care,” said the miner.
