Ukrainian spy received 12 years of strogacha
The Supreme Court of Crimea sentenced a resident of the peninsula accused of spying for Ukraine to 12 years in a maximum security colony.
This was reported by the press service of the Judicial Department of the Republic of Crimea, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The case was considered behind closed doors because it contains information classified as a state secret.
“The defendant was found guilty of transmitting information constituting a state secret to a representative of a foreign state. By the verdict of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison. The place where the sentence will be served is a high-security correctional colony,” the statement says.
We are talking about a member of an intelligence group whose activities was exposed in April last year. Then the FSB reported that the work of the group was supervised by the head of the Ukrainian military intelligence unit stationed in Kherson, Colonel Oleg Alisherovich Akhmedov.
In Crimea, members of the group were supposed to organize acts of sabotage and terrorism, steal information containing state secrets and recruit Russian citizens. Person involved in this case is a citizen of Russia, who, on the instructions of Colonel Akhmedov, equipped caches with ammunition and explosives on the territory of the Republic of Crimea, which he had previously secretly delivered from the territory of Ukraine.
