Ukrainian sniper killed DPR policeman trying to save children
In Donbass, a group of children found themselves near the front line. The DPR police who arrived to evacuate them were shot at by a Ukrainian sniper, and one of the law enforcement officers was killed.
This was reported by the press service of the DPR Ministry of Internal Affairs, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At 11:30, the duty station of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the DPR in the city of Yasinovataya received a message from servicemen of the DPR People’s Militia Department, who were at a combat post on the line of combat contact in the Yasinovatskaya industrial zone, about the discovery of a group of children between the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the DPR DPR.
At 12:00, in order to confirm this fact, as well as to evacuate the children and ensure their safety, an investigative and operational group of the DPR Ministry of Internal Affairs was sent to the area. During the events, the group was fired upon by targeted sniper fire from the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as a result of which junior police sergeant Voina V.I. was mortally wounded.
Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were forced to interrupt the ongoing activities; the children were not evacuated. At the moment, their whereabouts are unknown,” the message says.
The department also recalled that cases of children infiltrating directly onto the military demarcation line from the territory controlled by Kyiv had previously happened more than once.
“It is worth paying special attention to the fact that, according to the Minsk agreements, a complete ceasefire has been introduced, meaning a ban on the use of any weapons, including small arms.
These actions of the Ukrainian side once again demonstrated a complete disregard not only for the Minsk agreements, but also for the norms of universal morality and directly indicated their openly provocative nature,” the law enforcement officers added.
