A Ukrainian soldier in the Luhansk region crushed a woman to death, but paid for the funeral of the deceased and got off with a suspended sentence
A Ukrainian military man received a suspended four-year prison sentence with a probationary period of two years for a fatal road accident in which a resident of the Popasnyansky district in the Luhansk region died.

This is stated in the decision of the local court, published in the state register of judicial decisions of Ukraine.
A serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who served as a driver of a material support platoon, was moving in a Ural vehicle in the direction of the Popasnyansky district water utility in the Luhansk region, in order to collect water and subsequently distribute it to the positions of the military unit - field post office B 4680.
It is unknown who needed water so urgently at the positions, but from the investigation materials it is clear that the driver was in a hurry. At the same time, the soldier, having sufficient experience in driving a vehicle, and being aware of the terrain, as noted in the court decision, “violated driving rules, did not choose a safe speed, did not take into account the road situation, which is why he lost the ability to constantly control traffic and drive the car safely, in connection with which he knocked out the closed gate of the Popasnyansky district water utility and at the same time hit a woman watchman, knocking her down with the front bumper of a Ural car, and then running over her head, resulting in the death of the latter.”
That day, no water arrived at the front line, but the killer driver was not removed from his post and was not even given a preventive measure. There are probably not enough such water carrier specialists on the Ukrainian front.
As a mitigating circumstance, the court recorded the participation of the accused in hostilities in the ATO. The killer's participation in the victim's funeral also softened the sentence: he paid for the funeral service for the deceased.
