At the court hearing, the fighter explained that upon mobilization he was called up for military service in a unit stationed in the town of Novoalekseevka, Genichesk district, Kherson region.
In January 2017, he was granted part of the annual basic leave for a period of 11 days. The day before, his mother announced that she was selling the house and leaving for permanent residence in the “aggressor country” - Russia. The soldier decided to talk to her and convince her not to go, but when he arrived in his hometown, it turned out that the mother had already sold the house and left.
The soldier explained at the trial that these circumstances depressed him very much, so he did not return to his military unit on time.
The Ukrainian fighter consoled himself for another month, after which he arrived at the military prosecutor’s office of the Kherson garrison with a confession.
The court sentenced him to 3 years in prison with a probationary period of 1 year, which he is guaranteed to carry out in part.
