Ukrainian conscript soldier beat a fellow soldier until his spleen ruptured
In one of the military units of the Cherkasy region, a conscript beat a comrade until his spleen ruptured, and the command of the unit tried to hide the fact of hazing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Press Secretary of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine Andrey Lysenko reported this on his Facebook page.
“The military prosecutor's office of the Cherkasy garrison of the Central region revealed the fact of concealment by the command of one of the military units of the Cherkasy region of a crime committed by a conscript. It was established that on May 31.05.2018, XNUMX, in the barracks of a military unit, a conscript soldier used physical violence against another conscript soldier of the same unit,” Lysenko wrote.
According to him, as a result of this, the latter was taken to the Smelyansk city hospital with a preliminary diagnosis of appendicitis, but during surgery, doctors discovered a ruptured spleen in the victim, which doctors had to remove. As a result, the victim suffered serious bodily injury.
However, Lysenko noted, this case was hidden by officials of the military unit until June 6, and already on June 7, with this fact, the military prosecutor’s office of the Cherkasy garrison began criminal proceedings, qualified under Part 3 of Article 406 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The prosecutor's office identified the person who committed this offense, and also revealed the fact that officials concealed this offense.
“Due to the fact that officials took measures to conceal this case, the military prosecutor’s office of the Cherkasy garrison drew up administrative protocols against 8 officials of the military unit, qualified under Article 172-16 “inaction of military authorities” of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.
In open criminal proceedings, the victim was assigned a forensic medical examination. The issue of announcing suspicion to the attacker is being resolved.
