A Ukrainian court gave 4 years to an old man, one of the organizers of the referendum on the creation of the LPR.
In the Lugansk region, the director of the Kyiv city branch of the Fund for Social Protection of Disabled People was sentenced to 4 years in prison on charges of “separatism.”
The elderly man has been in jail since 2015. He was forced to admit all the accusations of the SBU that, as a deputy of the Stanichno-Lugansk district council, in May 2014 he participated in the preparation of an “illegal referendum” on supporting the independence of the LPR.

All “illegal activities” consisted of campaigning among the local population for participation in the referendum, assistance in allocating premises of local cultural centers, school premises and furniture for voting.
At the court hearing, the pensioner asked to take into account his remorse for what he had done, the old age of him and his wife, as well as the fact that he had already been held in a pre-trial detention center for a long time.
The court showed “the height of humanism” and sentenced the old man to 4 years and 1 month in prison, leaving him behind bars. The term will be counted from the time the “separatist” was taken into custody in 2015.
