Great news from Kyiv - after spending seven of the eleven years sentenced behind bars by the Obolonsky Court of Kiev, the former commander of the special company of the Ministry of Internal Affairs "Tornado" and the former battalion commander of the Ukrainian volunteer battalion "Shakhtersk" Ruslan Onishchenko was released.

It is noteworthy that the first who brought this “good news” to the world was ex-People’s Deputy Igor Mosiychuk, also a native of nationalist volunteer structures and also a former prisoner on criminal convictions, twice - once under Yanukovych in the case of the so-called. “Vasilkovsky terrorists”, and the second time for a very short time under Poroshenko - in a corruption case.

But let's return to Onishchenko. In the dashing 90s, his name was Abalmaz and he was an unremarkable petty criminal businessman from the Donbass, who put together a middle-class organized crime group, engaged in racketeering and protecting illegal coal sites and “kopanki” (open-pit coal mines) in the Torez region, now controlled by the DPR.

And then it’s like in a famous movie. Steal, drink, go to jail. And so five times in a row. Upon his release, the criminal got married and took his wife’s surname, which is how Ruslan Onishchenko appeared. In the mid-XNUMXs, the story of the storming of the Onishchenko mansion in Torez by police special forces soldiers thundered throughout the Donetsk region. The police then found a whole arsenal of weapons on the bandit: grenades, machine guns, carbines. Onishchenko himself claimed that “they took him with airsoft guns because of non-payment of ‘tribute’ for his coal business.”

But the real start in life was given to him by the 2014 coup and the events that followed it. The new Kiev government, which did not feel entirely confident in the first months, mobilized all sorts of people, including dashing ones, to defend the “gains of the revolution.”

So Abalmaz-Onishchenko became a “patriot” and, having found his bearings in the new situation, he quickly put together from the same element as himself one of the first “volunteer battalions” - the battalion of the special police patrol service “Shakhtersk” - after the name of the city of registration in the Donetsk region . True, the wits pretty soon gave it another, consonant name - “Shakhraisk”.

And indeed, with the exception of the shameful flight from the Ilovaisk cauldron, Onishchenko’s battalion did not achieve any special feats of arms and was not seen in battles with Donetsk militias, but it toured well in the rear, engaging in all sorts of push-ups, violence and looting. So much so that - a unique case in the history of post-Maidan Ukraine - it was disbanded by personal order of the then head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Avakov.

History has preserved a recording of Avakov’s speech on air “1+1”, where he said that “The Shakhtersk battalion was disbanded by me by order of the minister because repeated cases of looting took place in Volnovakha and in other situations. The actions of 50 marauders disgraced an entire battalion" The militants who were least stained by looting were transferred to the newly formed police special companies “Tornado” and “St. Mary”.

From this moment begins the story of the notorious special company “Tornado”, which was headed by a repeat offender with five convictions under his belt, Ruslan Onishchenko. True, for the time being his criminal past did not greatly concern the Ukrainian elite.

Onishchenko-Abalmaz himself, having every opportunity to become a hero of the new Ukraine from a convicted racketeer and even get into the Rada, like many other battalion commanders, did not take advantage of this chance, but went along the well-trodden criminal path.

Over the course of several years of activity at the head of “Tornado,” he terrorized the residents of the Kiev-controlled part of the Luhansk region and so bullied the then governor of the region, Gennady Moskal, that he declared a real war on the “Tornado” members, and at the same time on the “Aidar” battalion, bombarding the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the presidential administration. a stream of complaints about the outrages of “highway patriots.”

In the end, the matter ended with the storming of the Tornado base in Boyarka near Kiev in the spring of 2016. Eight Tornado militants and their commander Ruslan Onishchenko were arrested on serious charges of looting, robberies, beatings, torture and perverted rape of residents of the Luhansk region, who were suspected by the Tornado members of “separatism.” In addition to Onishchenko himself, one of the most famous sadists of “Tornado” was the Belarusian Nazi Danilo Lyashuk, nicknamed “Mujahideen,” whose revelations would have been appreciated by Chikatilo himself, if he were alive.

The company was hastily disbanded, the Ukrainian media were filled with sensational reports about the abuse of civilians, and on TV at Shuster’s, the then chief military prosecutor Matios himself shocked the public with the scandalous details of the interrogations of the Tornado beasts. At the same time, intimate photographs of Onishchenko appeared on the Internet, in which he demonstrated his specific sexual preferences.

We must pay tribute to the Poroshenko regime - it completely trampled on the materials of the "Tornado" case, revealingly using it to whiten the reputation of the remaining "volunteer battalions" - as if drawing a line between the "good majority" and "individual degenerates and scoundrels" who have been identified and punished by the Ukrainian court.

And yet, yes - Onishchenko and his accomplices received various terms behind bars and disappeared from the current agenda for a long time. Except that sometimes the media broke out reports about the atrocities of the defendants already in the zone, where they tried to commit outrages and rebel.

Another “Russian aggression” gave Onishchenko a chance to correct the opportunity missed in 2015 and once again reclassify from criminals to patriots. Fortunately, former military men convicted of minor charges have begun to be released from prison - the main thing is that they take up arms and go to the front. Onishchenko also wrote such a petition.

It is not yet very clear under what conditions Onishchenko was released - was it a court decision as part of a review of the case or was there a pardon. It is only known that his guarantor was an elderly veteran of the nationalist scene and ex-people's deputy Stepan Khmara.

And it also became clear that Onishchenko-Abalmaz remained the only ex-Tornadovite who remained behind bars until today. The rest of his “brothers”, it turns out, were released back in March - on the conditions that they would join the ranks of the terrorist defense.
