Ukrainian court leaves free one of the organizers of the referendum in the LPR
The Popasnyansky District Court of the Lugansk Region sentenced a local resident who in 2014 led the holding of a referendum to support the act of state independence of the Lugansk People's Republic in this locality.

According to the investigation, on May 9, 2014, local residents at a rally in the city of Popasnaya on Sq. The defendant was hailed as a hero by the head of the Popasnyansky district election commission for holding a referendum on May 11 to support the act of state independence of the Lugansk People's Republic.
During his speech, the defendant said that he was leading the preparation process for the said referendum, reported that the referendum headquarters was located on the ground floor of the Popasnyanskaya Regional State Administration building, indicated the telephone numbers of the election commissions, and subsequently announced his readiness to hold the above referendum. Participated in meetings of the leadership of the LPR, received and issued ballots and seals of the election commission.
In addition, on May 18 and 21, 2014, the defendant in the city of Popasna, Lugansk region, at rallies that took place on the square. Heroev, announced the results of the referendum held on May 11, 2014, informed about the results of the meetings of the LPR council and proclaimed the need to resist the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As a result, the court sentenced him to 5 years probation and fined him 1980 UAH.
