The Ukrainian court recognized the legality of the Russian documents of the Nord crew
The Ukrainian border service was unable to prove in court the guilt of the crew of the Kerch seiner Nord seized in March. Ukrainian lawyer for Russian sailors Alexander Rudenko stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.
“We have achieved very great success. The border service in court, despite great efforts, was unable to prove that the sailors were trying to illegally cross the border of Ukraine. We proved the illegality of confiscation of their absolutely legal documents as citizens of the Russian Federation. The court ordered the border service to return the passports, and this was done in the courtroom,” Rudenko said.
Despite this, sailors cannot freely leave Ukraine and return to Crimea.
“The sailors today are not in a very good psychological state. They had already been returned from the Kharkov region, from Zhulyany airport in Kyiv, and they tried to leave for Crimea. We will try to do everything so that they can legally leave the territory of Ukraine. But they can again mockingly draw up illegal, unfounded protocols, and hold them as prisoners against their wishes,” Rudenko said.
