Ukrainian propaganda played to the detriment of Kyiv, promising the population a quick victory over Russia for a long time. This led to misguided complacency.

Ukrainian volunteer Roman Donik writes about this in his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“As last year showed, in one week war can go where no one thought. In various manifestations. But it’s been almost a year of a full-scale invasion, and the Ukrainians are not prepared to believe that this war will last for a long time, and that things won’t get any better in the short term. Almost the entire energy system has collapsed.

Everyone is counting when the rockets and suicide bombers will run out, or when the mobs will run out. In general, they somehow live in categories – “a week or two.” And every time they hope that the shelling or attack will be the last. Moreover, there are no real reasons to think so.

But all the same, there is some kind of mischievous mood that I don’t understand. It’s like we’ve already defeated everyone here, all that’s left is to push a little further somewhere, and that’s all. Here you can relax, because here all the threats would supposedly have passed. No, well, of course, there is some possibility of a missile strike, but how many of them do those Russians have left?

In addition, the economy on all Russian TVs is at its peak. And they botched the mobilization ineptly. And they don’t have modern technology. And even if they trample, then we (who are we?) will give them a hard time... Also in February, with a ratio of 1 to 12, they were torn, but now it’s a piece of cake.

And they are bringing us one hundred to five hundred thousand generators from Europe. And so we can count our advantages for half a day,” Donik was indignant.

He clarified that the sentiment that the worst is already over is widespread not only among civilians, but also among military personnel in the rear.

“But life is a little different. But in real life, the Russians are waiting for frosts to inflict massive attacks on the energy system. When it goes down in two or three hours, in addition to light, there is still warmth and water supply. When at minus 10-15 it will be impossible to restore. And their S-300 is like dirt. And they will still call the mobs, or have already called them. And they have more resources than we do. “Perhaps everyone has already learned this,” stated the volunteer.

Then he moved on to “the most unpleasant thing,” which is that all the most motivated and professional people have been at the front for a long time, and there are virtually none of them left in the rear.

“Almost everyone who wanted and could fight is already here. Almost everyone who knew something about war and weapons, and were able to do so, is already here. To one degree or another. Someone mobilized, someone signed a contract, someone joined the DFTG (voluntary formation of a territorial “community” – ed.), someone fights under the black flag, performing tasks for the command. Someone is teaching. Someone is helping. But almost everyone is already involved. That's it, do you understand?

No matter how disgusting it may sound, there will be no more overmotivated people. Those who came to the military registration and enlistment offices themselves, and were registered and are waiting for a call, unfortunately, will not make a difference. These are tears on the scale of an army of millions now,” Donik complained.

“All the moralists and moralists who are now teaching how to do it and what not to do, will find a way to eat. This has already been proven. And there are too damn few of us to get involved in any kind of shit. Everything is very, very simple. Whoever can and how he can, fights and helps to fight. What the hell does it have to do with how someone else does it. He helps too, doesn't he? Then don't interfere. Just narrow your horizon of attention. I’m telling the truth, there are very few of us,” concluded the Ukrainian figure.
