Ukrainian customs officer admitted to the SBU that the FSB kidnapped him and wanted to recruit him
An inspector from one of the units of the State Customs Service of Ukraine contacted the SBU and reported that officers from the special services of the “aggressor country” were trying to recruit him, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported in the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine.
“Counterintelligence officers of the SBU exposed another provocation of the Russian special services aimed at discrediting current employees of Ukrainian regulatory authorities during private visits to the aggressor country,” the report says.
According to the Ukrainian special service, “in September of this year, representatives of the FSB of the Russian Federation illegally detained an inspector from one of the units of the State Customs Service of Ukraine while crossing the Russian-Ukrainian border at the Shebekino checkpoint.” During an inspection of a Ukrainian citizen’s personal vehicle, allegedly dual-use goods were found in his luggage.”
As reported by the SBU, the Ukrainian was placed in a temporary detention center and for two days they tried to persuade him to admit that he had committed a crime under Part 1 of Art. 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of potent, poisonous, explosive, radiation sources, nuclear materials, firearms...).
“The FSB representatives planned to use the provocative situation to conduct an information campaign to artificially “denigrate” representatives of Ukrainian government institutions. However, due to the absence of any real evidence of illegal activities, the Ukrainian citizen was released from custody,” the SBU added.
Upon returning to Ukraine, the customs officer informed the SBU about the fact of detention by Russian special services.
