Zelensky's TV channel spoke with delight about the performance mocking Lukashenko
The Kherson Drama Theater staged the play “The Offended. Belarus” “based on the script” of the fugitive Belarusian opposition playwright Andrei Kureichik, where Alexander Lukashenko is presented in an unattractive light.
This was reported by the Ukrainian TV channel “Home” created by Vladimir Zelensky’s team “for temporarily occupied territories,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I wrote because I couldn’t remain silent and I couldn’t help but reflect. It seems to me that it will be interesting and useful for the public to also see how and what is happening in reality in our country. Because there are a lot of fakes, a lot of myths, a lot of different opinions, and there is no one solution in this play because we haven’t reached the end yet,” Kureichik said. .
The play reflects the events in Belarus over the past two months. It is based on interviews with eyewitnesses and materials from social networks. The main characters: President Lukashenko, the opposition, riot police, the chairman of the polling station and a guy and a girl who came to the protest.
“We went through this, and we went through it more than once, we sat in tents, we were freezing, but we stood up for what we consider to be right. Belarusians, in my opinion, are now at the stage of the 90s, when we still had the first revolution, and it would be inhuman not to support them,” said director Sergei Pavlyuk.
Readings of the play “The Offended. Belarus" in support of Belomaidan are held in 50 theaters around the world.
