A Ukrainian TV presenter who campaigned for war suddenly “saw the light” after visiting Donetsk
A scandal in the political circle of Kyiv: the famous TV presenter Alexey Mochanov, who in recent months helped as a volunteer of the Ukrainian army and campaigned for the war in Donbass, suddenly changed his militant rhetoric after he visited Donetsk as part of a prisoner exchange under an agreement with the leadership of the DPR.
Now former like-minded people accuse Mochanov of treason.

Mochanov in Donetsk with General Ruban engaged in prisoner exchange
“We stopped by and got coffee at the Lviv Chocolate Coffee House (they really speak Ukrainian here, everyone is friendly). In general, all over Donetsk there were signs after “Euro 2012” in English and Ukrainian, they were hung up quite a lot and are not being removed... The city is very clean... We walked on the central Pushkin Boulevard, Artem Street, talked to people. I was surprised to find that some people came up to me, greeted me, recognized me, asked to take a photo, leave an autograph, because they had seen my car programs...
We, too, are sitting in Kiev and thinking that people with machine guns are walking around Donetsk, all overgrown, completely Chechen, some zombies with strange bulging eyes walking around shouting “Putin, help!” No this...
I will say that my personal opinion from these three days of stay: in the areas that it flies to, the situation is very tense. Who shoots there and how they get there is the second question. I have not seen and am not ready to evaluate anything. The Donetsk side insists that our artillery is simply firing everywhere in order to intimidate civilians. And they show hits in residential buildings, markets, shops,” Mochanov said about his visit to Donetsk.
After this, the TV presenter’s mailbox was filled with letters containing curses and threats. Mochanov had to insist that he does not have “Stockholm syndrome” and that he still considers Donetsk to be Ukrainian territory.
Odessa journalist Yuri Tkachev notes that the story with Mochanov is not new.
“The Ukrainian handshake patriot NNN is going to Donetsk to tell the truth. On Facebook, the entire handshake public freezes in anticipation that they will stupidly eat him there, and if they don’t eat him, then NNN will tell them about the Chechens, Buryats, alcoholics and drug addicts, and about the shelling of themselves. NNN is coming. Looks. Surprised. He writes posts like “Yes, everything here is actually not as they say on TSN, there are no Chechens, they don’t rob on the streets, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are shooting, and, in general, they say, why the hell are we bothering them in the first place?” The handshake public begins to think of shit, labels NNN as vatniks, zradnyks, Kremlin agents and just assholes. In order to tell the truth, a handshake MMM patriot is going to Donetsk. History repeats itself,” notes Tkachev.
And the former head of the information hodling Vesti, Igor Guzhva, notes on his page on the social network that the persecution of Mochanov was organized directly by Petro Poroshenko’s entourage and that the Ministry of Information of Ukraine, under the leadership of Poroshenko’s godfather Yuriy Stets, is supposedly doing this: “That an order was received against Mochanov on Mochilovo on social networks, I heard it a few days ago. I don’t know how reliable it is, but in any case it’s very interesting.”
