The Ukrainian trident appeared next to the swastika in the UK police instructions
The Ukrainian Embassy in the UK protested a publication in the Guardian, which reported that an image of the Ukrainian trident coat of arms, along with a fascist swastika, appeared in a special guide to combating extremism prepared by police for teachers and medical staff.
The Ukrainian embassy stated that this fact “is outrageous.”
“No acceptable explanation. We demand that the trident be removed from the leadership with an official apology,” the statement emphasizes.
The police issued an official explanation.
“The Signs and Symbols document, the subject of the Guardian article, was produced to help police and close associates identify and understand the signs and symbols they may encounter in their daily working lives...
We need our employees, frontline colleagues and partners to be able to understand what organizations people may be involved in, what their goals and activities are - legal or not.
However, the said manual explicitly states that many of the groups included in it are not of interest in the fight against terrorism, and that membership in them does not indicate any criminality,” the clarification states.
