Ukrainian teacher earns half as much as a police officer
The results of the presidential elections demonstrated people's dissatisfaction with the low standard of living.
This was stated by the head of the Committee on Science and Education of the Verkhovna Rada, Alexander Spivakovsky, at a meeting of the Conciliation Council of faction leaders and chairmen of committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The election results showed a lot of discontent. Let's look at simple numbers: 4000 UAH is the basic salary of a kindergarten teacher, 4600 for a school teacher. I apologize, with all due respect to the national police, the basic salary in the police is 9 thousand, and taking into account compensation for housing - plus 4 thousand. I understand that the police are security. But what then are kindergartens, schools, education? Elections are the way people speak out. Teachers and young scientists should stay here,” he said.
