Ukrainian international affairs scholar: The Russian Ground Forces are stronger than the US and NATO ones
Russia has more than enough ground forces to break NATO's eastern flank.
The director of the Ukrainian Institute of Foreign Policy Research, Grigory Perepelitsa, stated this on air on the Ukrlife Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today, the ground forces of the Russian armed forces are the most powerful in the world, even more powerful than the US Army. They have the most powerful army in the world. This happened after this process was discussed in Corfu (an informal meeting of the foreign ministers of the OSCE member states on the island of Corfu - ed.).
Putin clearly defined the need to prepare for war with NATO. Rearmament programs for the Russian army were launched, and now the Russian army has more modern weapons than NATO countries. I mean the European NATO countries,” he noted.
“Therefore, to say that Russia does not have a combat-ready army there is a great exaggeration and underestimation of the army’s combat potential. Russia has the most powerful army in the world, and the US has the most powerful navy and air force in the world.
That’s why such an imbalance exists, but in order to break NATO’s Eastern flank, Russia has more than enough ground forces. Both in tanks and in heavier weapons of ground forces, they have a significant advantage over European countries,” the expert said.
