Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister: We will stigmatize musicians performing in Russia
Cultural figures touring in Russia will receive the appropriate mark when their performances are broadcast on Ukrainian TV.
Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for Humanitarian Affairs Vyacheslav Kirilenko stated this on air on the Pryamoy channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I’ll say a little about cultural figures who perform abroad. I introduced a bill, and it is only being considered in the Verkhovna Rada, and it is not about a ban, but about the fact that if you want to go to Russia to speak in front of the Russian public, then you inform the government agencies of Ukraine, and after that you get into a special register performers who tour on the territory of the “aggressor state”, this is a term that is provided for by Ukrainian legislation.
The consequences are as follows. Your clip appears on television along with a small inscription: “This performer performs on the territory of the aggressor state.”
This is just a public assessment, but if parliament supports it, it will mean that this is the prevailing thought of our citizens. On the radio - exactly the same, only an audio message, on the poster - the same - “The concert involves performers who perform on the territory of the aggressor state.”
This is not a ban, but the introduction of an ethical barrier.
Well, plus a 20% social fee to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine from each concert where performers performing on the territory of the Russian Federation participate,” Kirilenko said.
Thank you!
