Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister admitted: there is no point in submitting an application to NATO

During the North Atlantic Council's visit to Ukraine this week, Kyiv will not apply to the Alliance to obtain an Action Plan regarding NATO membership, because there is no point in doing so, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Dmitry Kuleba at a joint briefing with the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg, the press service of the Deputy Prime Minister reports.

“Thus, to answer the question, no applications will be submitted in Kyiv. We are convinced that the MAP issue should be technical, not political,” Kuleba emphasized.

Instead of the MAP, he said, Ukraine needs to focus on reforms, on deepening interaction with the Alliance and on achieving compatibility of the Ukrainian armed forces with the armed forces of NATO countries.
