Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze stated this in an interview with the Kyiv publication “European Truth”.
She noted that the delay in the implementation of the Association Agreement is not only a loss of time, but also money.
“We not only lost time, we have already lost part of the European funds and grants intended for Ukraine,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
“Yes, the Ministry of Energy should now contact the European Commission and submit an application for at least the last 2 million euros for the implementation of an energy efficiency system. Although initially we were talking about 22 million allocated for Ukraine, we lost them because the budget for this program ends in 2017,” she explained with an example.
In addition, according to the official, Ukraine lost 9,3 million euros for the development of border crossings, which were not used by the State Fiscal Service, although the government does not lose hope that it will be able to use these funds and implement these programs.
“And this is not a question of recent years, we are talking about funds allocated many years ago. In the case of the State Fiscal Service we are talking about a project from 2007!” - said Klympush-Tsintsadze.
“Unfortunately, we are reaping the fruits of the previous leaders’ dishonest attitude towards the opportunities that the European Union gave us,” she complained.
