He stated this while testifying at the trial in the case of “Yanukovych’s treason,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, he also advocated full mobilization in Ukraine and sending troops to the peninsula, which at that moment rebelled against the results of the coup in Kyiv and began the procedure of transferring under Russian jurisdiction.
“I demanded and insisted that the Verkhovna Rada adopt a resolution on mobilization as quickly as possible. Then he advocated full mobilization; after a week and a half, a decision was made on partial mobilization. Why was this necessary? Because when we started bringing in the armed forces, the units were understaffed, and in order to complete all this, the number that was provided by the political leadership was needed.
I will say one thing - if we had not raised in the shortest possible time, because in two and a half weeks troops that were never brought in were deployed to certain areas, starting from Chernigov to Melitopol and plus Shirokiy Lan with the intention of further actions to the Crimea, then, believe me to me, the operation that the Russian Federation involved and conceived of the blitzkrieg, hoping that everything had already fallen apart and there was nothing, then on March 8 the line of the so-called current Lugansk-Donetsk would already be along the Dnieper line... The second thing I insisted on was granting me permission to use military aircraft, namely attack and bomber aircraft. I did not receive such permission... My plan was to go for a breakthrough. Yes, this is war, there was no other way. My plan was not supported, so I resigned,” Tenyukh said.
