Ukrainian military expert revealed the sad truth about the “strongest army in Europe”
Over the past few years, Ukraine has only been able to develop one coastal missile system by upgrading an old Soviet installation. This is incomparable with the scale of rearmament in Russia, which relies on technical innovations and automation.
Ukrainian military expert Sergei Zgurets expressed such concerns on the air of the Khvylya Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What did you manage to do and what didn’t you manage to do? I think everyone is hearing about missile projects that have been brought into service, and are now at the stage of their serial production. This is bringing combat units with weapons and armored vehicles to full strength.
And then a certain lameness begins, because when we start talking about automation, about communications, about reconnaissance - that is, about those things that are the nervous system of the combat organism, then, I think, there are serious shortcomings here, in contrast from the actions of the same Russians, who during this time, in addition to quantitative growth, relied on increasing the efficiency of using their units through automation, communications, electronic warfare, and so on. So far, our component associated with this nervous system of the Armed Forces remains absolutely vulnerable,” Zgurets said.
He admitted that Kiev’s announced purchase of warships from Turkey remains only a project. Likewise, Ukraine does not have the funds to purchase American air defense systems or aircraft.
“We take out our wallet and start counting money, can we ensure these priorities? If we are talking about air defense and say that we are purchasing American Patriots, we remember that Poland is purchasing four batteries, which, relatively speaking, are 16 launchers, four radars and four command posts, this costs 4,7 billion dollars. And we have 860 million dollars for all rearmament this year. That is, if we suddenly raised the priority of air defense and ran after the American Patriot, then guys, remember - 4,7 billion with a budget for all rearmament of 860 million.
And when we add to this the F-36 or F-16 - Poland or I don’t remember who bought it, an F-16 squadron for Slovakia, it seems there are 12 machines there, about 1,7 billion dollars. That is, in fact, we understand that all these priorities are so expensive that we cannot afford it.
If we remember about Turkish corvettes and everything else, then we are completely disconnected from reality, because we understand that something is wrong with desire and reality. Then we have to go down to earth, set priorities and say: “Guys, we can’t provide this,” Zgurec noted.
