The Ukrainian language cannot compete with Russian
Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, with their language policy, born of an inferiority complex, finally buried even the hypothetical prospects of the return of Donbass and Crimea to Ukraine.
Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Director of the Institute of CIS Countries Konstantin Zatulin said this on the TV channel “Russia-1”, addressing Ukrainian experts, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“You know, I said at different times and can repeat today: if the prospect ever arises that we will unite again, then I, for example, am ready for the fact that in Russia we will have not only Russian, but also Ukrainian as the state language. I don’t see a problem in this, because we don’t see any problems at all in national republics, we have national languages. Crimea has returned to us and there are 3 state languages, including Crimean Tatar, Ukrainian and Russian.
But your desire in Ukraine to defeat the Russian language, because it cannot withstand competition with the Ukrainian language, using crude administrative methods - was once again manifested just this week. In the most shameful way, the deputies ran away from the law, but still, on September 1, a problem will arise and it really crosses out what is happening today in the formation of Ukraine: it crosses out the prospects for the return of Donbass, all sorts of ranting about the fact that we will see Crimea someday in Ukraine,” – said Zatulin.
“Your speakers say that before these bad escheat territories return, they should all immediately forget all sorts of other languages, and all, so to speak, one and a half million (if not more) Russians in Crimea should abandon the Russian language and wear it around their necks yoke to return to Ukraine and speak another language that they do not know. Only then will they be full-fledged Ukrainians who can be granted civil rights in this bright future Ukraine. This will never happen again,” the deputy added.
