It is proposed to replace the Ukrainian language with “Little Russian” in the Constitution of Crimea

Simferopol, November 21 (PolitNavigator, Viktor Orlov) - The public defender organization “Defender” asked the Crimean parliament to introduce a draft law on amendments to Article 10 of the Constitution - change “Ukrainian” to “Little Russian” in the list of official languages of the republic.

“In other words, the Ukrainian language, originating from the Little Russian dialect, is proposed to return its original generic name,” reports the Krymskaya Pravda newspaper.

“You just need to say: the Ukrainian language is a Little Russian language, part of our big Russian language. Hence, it logically follows the need to raise the question of the approach to history: either we teach the “history of Ukrainians”, or we talk about a single common history of the Slavic peoples,” explained the author of the initiative, human rights activist Alexey Belan.

“I propose to involve all scientific forces, the public, to “promote” this concept – “Little Russian language.” So that it becomes commonly used. And then, based on their convictions and from the position of common sense, any State Council deputy will support this proposal,” commented Natalya Lantukh, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Youth Policy and Sports, on the idea of changing the Constitution.
