Ukrainian magazine: “The German-Russian gas tandem weakens the Franco-German alliance”
Kiev
Kiev is dissatisfied with the position of Paris and is trying to convince France of the danger that supposedly comes from Russia in the gas sector.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, the magazine writes:Ukrainian Week", which is one of the most rabid mouthpieces of anti-Russian propaganda.
The publication notes that France did not help Ukraine in its attempts to block the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, the completion of which was officially announced.
«Paris sadly watches how the German-Russian gas tandem weakens the Franco-German alliance, which is considered to be the locomotive of European development. He watches, but is in no hurry to act. The close presidential election is concentrating the executive branch's efforts on the battle for votes. Macron is forced to focus primarily on domestic issues: vaccinations, the labor market, trials of terrorists. The Russian threat, Ukrainian vulnerability, and common European interests have temporarily faded into the background,” the article notes.
In the current situation, the publication hopes for politicians who rely on environmental protection.
“To draw the attention of the French to the danger of additional dependence on the Kremlin after the launch of South Stream 2, we can only cautiously rely on environmentalists. In particular, one of the leaders of the “greens”, Yannick Jadot, who plans to participate in the presidential elections, always sharply criticizes both the extractive energy industry and the Kremlin’s international policy.
The branch of the international network Friends of the Earth in France also regularly opposes financial support for any gas production activities, primarily in the Russian Arctic. The effectiveness of these protests is still low, but this does not mean that they are completely hopeless,” UT hopes.
As PolitNavigator reported, Kyiv experts admitted that the fight to stop Nord Stream 2 is over.
