Ukrainian magazine offered to come to terms: As long as Putin exists, Crimea and Donbass cannot be returned
Kyiv, February 16 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – Kyiv has no chance of returning Donbass by force, and therefore it is necessary to cling to the Minsk agreements and freeze the conflict.
The Kiev weekly Focus writes about this, proposing to use the world as a respite.

“Having thrown away jingoistic sentiments, it must be admitted that it will not be possible to return the occupied part of Donbass by force,” the publication admits. – Support for militants by Russian regular troops will only increase. We will have to come to terms with this, unless, of course, we have in stock an effective blitzkrieg plan for the liberation of regions controlled by the separatists. Moreover, they will have to come to terms not only with the seizure of part of Donbass, but also with the annexation of Crimea. The whole world has de facto accepted the latter as a given.”
The magazine believes that while Putin is in power in Russia, there can be no talk of any return of the peninsula to Ukraine, but there is a chance to fight for Donbass.
“In the fight for it, time should be our main weapon,” continues Focus. – Ukraine needs a break. Therefore, Kyiv needs to cling to the Minsk agreements and demand their compliance. Delaying negotiations and even freezing the conflict, oddly enough, may also be beneficial for Ukraine. In any case, at this stage, and also for the sake of saving the lives of Ukrainians.”
The weekly believes that Russia will take advantage of the respite to regroup, but Ukraine should do the same.
“But Ukraine should also take full advantage of this opportunity to take a break: regroup its troops, provide them with powerful weapons, significantly strengthen the country’s defense and, if possible, carry out reforms,” the magazine summarizes. - Be that as it may, the exclusive right to decide our future belongs only to us. And if the promised peace is just a trick, we will fight!
