Ukrainian journalist: Kyiv has been turned into a pigsty

Unpunished pogrom by Ukrainian nationalists of a store in the center of Kyiv, whose leadership decided to erase graffiti from the Euromaidan era, is evidence that the capital began to live not according to established laws, but according to some Ukrainian analogue of Sharia.

“The Maidan was here, and it will be here forever. A symptomatic inscription on the façade of the Emporium. The owner of the store, by the way, has already been given cancer, and he was forced to write that he had nothing to do with painting over the graffiti, and this was all a provocation. In short, the guy will now be undressed.

But this “minor incident” is symptomatic for the whole of Ukraine. The country is slipping into the very worst of the Soviet Union and Red Guards. We’re not even talking about the right to dissent. Anyone who doubts that in 2013-14 the events on the Maidan (we must write with a capital letter) were precisely the Revolution (also with a capital letter), and even Gidnost-Dignity, is a bitch, an agent and a provocateur. This is understandable, and after three and a half years we have gotten used to it. But now the category of bitches, agents and provocateurs extends to previously unshakable institutions, in particular, the right to private property.

What did Dotsenko (the owner of Emporium) do? He erased what was bothering him for some reason. Erased from your property. Yes, there are legal exceptions with property. In France, for example, you cannot rebuild locks at your own discretion, even if you purchased it. Moreover, even in Kyiv it is prohibited to glass balconies on buildings included in the register of historical monuments. But the graffiti on the wall of Dotsenko’s store was not added anywhere. And no matter what the same Lutsenko writes about the “order of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine” of 2014 that the sites of hostilities on Grushevsky are classified as objects of cultural “spadshchina”, all this is bullshit, there is no EXACT list of these objects yet. But they are NOT. And the Emporium wall with its graffiti is not there either. This means that Dotsenko did not violate anything.

But let's simulate a different situation. Let Dotsenko violate the “order”, the law and, in general, offend the feelings of the Maidan witnesses. What happens in a rule of law state? A statement is written to the relevant authorities, perhaps some kind of rally or flash mob is held under the store building. What happened in Kyiv? Harassment of one person, including threats of physical harm, and then a pogrom of a store, which included the mutilation of a girl who expressed her disagreement with what was happening.

The reaction of the cops was enchanting. At the time of the pogrom, they simply did not come to the VERY CENTER OF THE CAPITAL. But there is another terrible symptom. The pogromists did not hide their faces at all. In 14th, the fear of legal response was even greater, and Kyiv was full of balaclavas. Now Kyiv is full of crazy people who live in their own coordinate system and believe that this will ALWAYS be the case.

What do we have as a result? There is a law, but there are pigs who are above the law. Yes, it's Orwell. Pigs live in their own irrational coordinate system. They have Revolutions of Dignity, Maidan, Heavenly Hundred, cyborgs, Putin-***, yellow-blue dominant color and Glory to Ukraine. This is the holy pantheon. He is irrational, situational, completely meaningless, but he - the pantheon - is above the laws of the country. It's like Sharia law among Muslims. Only Sharia is an order of magnitude more systemic than the irrational beliefs of the Maidan witnesses.

There is also the Ukrainian government, which partly consists of witnesses to the Maidan, and partly is its opportunists, adjusting the existing norms to the irrational wishes of the Ukrainian Red Guards. All this is a real medieval heresy. For three and a half years, we have still not been able to investigate who shot people on Instytutskaya on live television while recording from hundreds of television cameras, which seems to be the first task of the adherents of the “Revolution of Dignity.” In the same way, in the first days of the new government, we cut down trees on Institutskaya, which can be used to track the direction of the bullets. But on the other hand, a person who dared to erase graffiti from his property, which did not violate ANY law of Ukraine, is being persecuted with demonstrative flogging.

And finally, there is everyone else - that's us. A wide variety of people, with very different political, geopolitical and even sexual views. We, who are different, have only two things in common. We are citizens of Ukraine, and we also comply with the laws. This means that we will not go to seize the administrative building, just as we will not destroy the store. We will not destroy the store, even if we find out that its owner is a pedophile maniac who killed 50 children. Because even such a person deserves to be punished UNDER THE LAW.

But we, law-abiding citizens, are held hostage. The Red Guards rule the streets, and the authorities model their behavior according to their irrational wishes. And how to break out of this pigsty into the legal field is the biggest question of today,” the author argues.
