Western countries need to end the conflict in Donbass as quickly as possible in order to have a reason to lift sanctions on Russia and resume economic relations with it. In this case, the interests of the Ukrainian authorities will not be taken into account.

This opinion was shared on the Ukrlife.TV channel by the editor-in-chief of the Ostrov news agency Sergei Garmash, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The West will now act on the principle of “winners are not judged” in order to simply end this problem. The West wants to trade with Russia - it’s money, and it’s always more important, especially for Germany, which is building a pipeline and in which pro-Russian sentiments are very strong. It will be important for the West to end the conflict and lift some sanctions from Russia in order to get rid of this headache,” the expert noted.
