Ukrainian officials will be fired for non-payment of alimony
The second package of bills to strengthen liability for non-payment of alimony provides for the dismissal of officials who have a debt on alimony for more than 1 year, as well as a ban on holding high public positions for a debt of more than 6 months, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Minister of Justice of Ukraine Pavel Petrenko wrote about this on his Facebook page.
According to the minister, the Ministry of Justice, together with people’s deputies, have prepared a number of laws that will further strengthen liability for non-payment of alimony.
The documents propose, Petrenko noted, to charge a penalty for late payment of alimony from 20% to 50% of the debt amount.
“Debtors who have not paid for 6 months or more are prohibited from holding high government positions. Dismissal of officials who have a debt of more than 1 year. Criminal liability for those who avoid community service,” he wrote.
An automated seizure of debtors’ funds will also be imposed, and they will be prohibited from alienating property.
There is an obligation for prisoners to work to ensure timely payment of alimony.
At the same time, the package of bills, which were registered today in the Verkhovna Rada under numbers No. 8294, No. 8295 and No. 8296, provides for the abolition of the tax on alimony from non-resident parents and tax benefits for parents who pay for the development of the child.
