Ukrainian doctors are called to go on strike - to demand wages like that of Deputy Suprun
Doctors in Ukraine receive meager salaries, in contrast to officials in senior management positions in the Ministry of Health, who do not even have a medical education.
The head of the parliamentary committee on health issues, Olga Bogomolets, stated this at a meeting of the Conciliation Council of faction leaders and chairmen of committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The salary of the Deputy Minister of Health is 125-140 thousand UAH per month. At the same time, professors who teach at the university receive 8 thousand, doctors who graduated from a university and every day communicate with patients with tuberculosis, AIDS, and cancer patients receive 3-4 thousand UAH. With such incredible discrimination, humiliation of professional and human dignity, trade unions should not remain silent if they are not pocketbooks. The medical community should go on strike and ask: why does the Deputy Minister of Health receive 140 thousand UAH a month without a medical education, and those people who risk their lives every day receive 3-4 thousand UAH,” she said.
