Ukrainian police officers should be checked for sanity by psychiatrists before being hired

According to him, a professional psychiatric examination is needed not only for permission to carry and store weapons, but also to identify excessive aggression and the ability to adequately respond in extreme situations.
“It is clear that law enforcement officers must undergo a psychiatric examination. And here we are talking not only about permission to carry and use weapons, it is also a manifestation of aggression, cruelty, and its ability to act adequately in extreme situations. Also, they must undergo special psychological tests. And this has always been the case. And this happens in absolutely all civilized countries,” the psychiatrist noted.
As Ukrainian media reported, employees of the Patrol Service Directorate under the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kiev were given weapons without conducting special examinations of the person and without the permission of a psychiatrist.
Let us remind you that among the new employees of the currently advertised Patrol Service Directorate under the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kyiv there are previously convicted persons.
Let us also recall that the five-time convicted battalion commander of the Tornado battalion, Ruslan Onishchenko, was able to become a battalion commander on the initiative of Gennady Korban, who last spring put forward the idea of recruiting volunteer battalions from among criminals.
As PolitNavigator reported, Chief Military Prosecutor Anatoly Matios noted that 43 soldiers of the Tornado battalion under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including their battalion commander Ruslan Onishchenko, had previous convictions. Also, Matios noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as part of the investigation, will investigate who and under what conditions hired convicted people to work in the internal affairs bodies.
