Ukrainian sailors were made “combatants”
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine today adopted a bill on the social protection of war veterans as a whole - military personnel of the Navy and Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received the right to receive the status of combatants, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The corresponding decision was supported by 317 people's deputies of Ukraine.
Draft Law No. 1197 on amendments to Article 6 of the Law of Ukraine “On the status of war veterans, guarantees of their social protection” to ensure the rights of military personnel of the Navy and Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to obtain the status of combatants provides for strengthening the social protection of military personnel, in including by establishing the legal basis for the recalculation of monetary support to the families of those military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Also, the bill provides for the recalculation of monetary support for military personnel of other military formations and law enforcement agencies formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, “who were captured or became hostages in the territory of the ATO during hostilities with illegal armed groups.”
According to the authors of the bill, its adoption will ensure equal rights of military personnel to adequate pay.
Earlier, the parliament approved in the second reading a bill amending some legislative acts of Ukraine regarding the provision of status and social guarantees to individuals from among the participants in the anti-terrorist operation, that is, a document that provides the status of participants in combat operations to volunteers from nationalist battalions.
