Ukrainian border guards were frightened by the sunglasses of Russian drillers
Ukrainian border guards went on reconnaissance to the gas fields of Chernomorneftegaz and concluded that Russia was allegedly violating international norms in Ukraine’s exclusive maritime economic zone.

Thus, the Ukrainian border boat “Grigory Kuropyatnikov” examined the Shtormovoe, Arkhangelskoye and Golitsynskoye fields, trying to get explanations from the drillers working there under the Russian flag.
In most cases, the questions remained unanswered, but the dialogue with the commander of the jack-up floating drilling rig “Sivash” jack-up rig was noteworthy.
“What activities are you carrying out at this point?” asked the captain of the Ukrainian border boat.
“And the reason for your question?” they asked on the Sivash jack-up rig.
“You are in the exclusive maritime economic zone of Ukraine, we are a Ukrainian border ship, we are conducting a survey of you in order to clarify your actions in this area,” the border guard continued.
“It’s very nice that you are on duty, we are standing in neutral waters, the flag of the Russian Federation,” the driller answered.
“Let’s communicate constructively, don’t ask unnecessary questions, I’m asking you essentially and don’t shy away from answering,” the border guard suggested.
- I'm speaking to the point, if you're watching. “Do you have binoculars, do you see the tricolors on the mast?” they answered on “Sivash”.
– We see the tricolor and we see armed people on board. How can you explain their location and what armed forces they belong to?” the border guard asked.
“These are fishermen, we like to fish,” the driller joked.
“Your fishermen have their sights shining in our direction, so please answer to the point,” the border guard continued to ask questions.
“Sunglasses tend to glare,” they answered ironically on the Russian drilling platform.
