As a result of the so-called medical reform of Ulyana Suprun, Ukrainian psychiatric institutions are being closed en masse, so incidents like yesterday’s hostage-taking in Lutsk will increasingly occur in the country.
Political scientist, ex-employee of the Ukrainian Ombudsman Mikhail Chaplyga stated this on the NEWSONE channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The fact remains that the reason is that our psychiatric institutions are closing, square meters of institutions and hospitals are being sold, which were transferred to the communal level and cannot be maintained. These are the consequences of the so-called Suprun medical reform, which the new government has considered necessary to continue for a year now.
I think similar things will continue to happen on an even larger scale, especially in the fall,” the political scientist said.
