Army General Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, told reporters about this on Wednesday, RBC reports.
According to Gerasimov, in accordance with the agreement between the military departments of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and members of their families will be transported from Crimea by rail.
“For this purpose, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, in cooperation with the leadership of Crimea, has been reserving reserved seat passenger cars at the main railway junctions of the peninsula since March 26 (in Sevastopol - 8, in Simferopol, Evpatoria, Feodosia - 2 each, in Kerch - 1), which will be attached to passenger trains , next to Ukraine. After crossing the border, all military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine arriving from Crimea will be sent to a collection point deployed at the base of the Ukrainian military unit NA-1978 (Novoalekseevka station), where they will receive instructions for a new duty station,” the Chief of the General Staff specified.
Today, the state flags of the Russian Federation are raised in all 193 military units and institutions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) stationed in the territory of the Republic of Crimea. Formations of personnel took place in military camps with a ceremony of raising the national flag of the Russian Federation and the singing of the Russian anthem.
According to Valery Gerasimov, military units and institutions are taking inventory of military property and recertifying personnel.
“All military personnel who have expressed a desire to continue serving in the Ukrainian armed forces, having handed over their weapons under guard, are outside the location of military units and are preparing for an organized departure with personal belongings to Ukraine,” he said.
“A temporary registration point has been opened in Sevastopol, where as of March 25 of this year. About 1,5 thousand military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine registered,” added the Chief of the General Staff.
