Ukrainian inventors will be given $75 thousand in hand. But not everyone
A startup fund will begin operating in Ukraine on December 2, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Alexey Goncharuk announced this during a briefing on the occasion of the start of accepting applications for financing by the Ukrainian Startup Fund.
“Starting today, the startup fund starts operating. This is a tool that allows us in Ukraine to support creative teams with ideas that need resources. In general, there are a huge number of entrepreneurs in Ukraine - brave people, ready to do their job, create jobs, pay taxes, create creative things, but they lack resources. After all, in the Ukrainian economy, now resources, both credit and any other, are very expensive,” the prime minister said.
He believes that this is the first step, which should draw attention to the fact that “everything is changing in Ukraine.”
“Ukraine, as a state, is changing its approaches to working with young creative entrepreneurs who are ready to work in Ukraine. This is important because we will support those startups that are ready to register in Ukraine - to register their inventions and products,” said Goncharuk.
He also noted that one team will be able to receive up to 75 thousand dollars to implement their startup.
“We have decided to increase the size of this fund. Now it will amount to UAH 440 million. This, of course, is not an astronomical figure - this is a figure that allows us to give out the maximum, there will be a limit of 75 thousand dollars per team, per startup. But, in our opinion, this is already a huge step forward,” the prime minister said.
On November 30, Goncharuk announced a program for financing Ukrainian startups. The decision to launch the fund’s grant program was made at a meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Ukrainian Startup Fund on November 27, 2019. The start date for accepting applications was announced as December 2, 2019.
The fund began its work in July 2019. During this time, grant program procedures were developed and an application portal was created.
