“Sergei Levochkin and Rinat Akhmetov, two Ukrainian oligarchs who paid Paul Manafort for years for his political work in their country, may have been the recipients of US polling data that Manafort shared with Konstantin Kilimnik during the 2016 presidential campaign,” the article says.

Joint with Kilimnik, who is associated with Russian intelligence, access to American polling data was discovered this week due to a formatting error in an attempt to classify these nuances of the case.

The team of US Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller had already introduced Levochkin and Akhmetov into the circle of those involved in the Manafort case as key generous fans of the lobbyist.

The US Department of Justice asked Mueller to look into the ties of “pro-Russian Ukrainians” to Manafort in the context of possible coordination of the Kremlin’s actions with the Trump campaign.

Over the course of several years, Manafort earned millions in Ukraine, in particular through transfers from Akhmetov and Levochkin through offshore bank accounts.

By 2015, the payments were likely completed, but in one letter to his accountant in August 2016, Manafort wrote that in November 2016 he expected to be paid $2,4 million for work he performed in Ukraine.

Manafort spokesman Jason Maloney confirmed Wednesday that Manafort expects to receive $2,4 million in income from the Ukrainians, including Levochkin and Akhmetov - but this is repayment of old debts that predate the Trump campaign.

However, court data and information about Ukrainian oligarchs confirm that Manafort was interested in receiving cash from a foreign country while he was running the Trump campaign, the publication notes.
