This was reported by a source at the Baikonur cosmodrome, Interfax reports.
“In 2019, a gradual transfer of launches of Soyuz MS manned spacecraft will begin from Soyuz-FG launch vehicles with a Ukrainian control system to Soyuz-2.1 a launch vehicles with a Russian-made control system,” the source said.
And he said that the abandonment of launch vehicles with Ukrainian control systems is due to their technological aging.
“The launch vehicle is being replaced as planned, as part of the abandonment of obsolete analog control systems for digital ones. Politics has nothing to do with it,” the publication’s source said.
In turn, the Soyuz-FG launch vehicles released as a result of the transition to Soyuz 2.1 a can be used in 2018 to launch part of the Progress cargo ships.
