They want to prohibit Ukrainian media from writing well about Russia even after its collapse
In the event of a hypothetical collapse of Russia, the Ukrainian media will not be able to write in a positive manner about any of the entities that have called themselves the legal successor of the Russian Federation, until further notice.
Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov wrote about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
While analyzing the emerging draft law of Ukraine “On Media,” the expert came across an interesting point in Article 118 IX of Section “Restrictions Related to Armed Aggression.”
“I’m reading the bill on the media, which was prepared by the Ukrainian “servants of the people.” I was especially amazed by the article, which stipulates that the ban on positive coverage of the “aggressor power” will apply to all entities that will become the legal successors of this power. They are already introducing their dreams of the collapse of Russia into laws. Prudent,” Kornilov sneers.
In addition, in Section IV “Requirements for the content of information and the organization of the provision of media services” there is an article under the characteristic number 37, which lists the types of information prohibited for distribution in Ukraine.
“In addition to pornography, racial insults and other things, the draft contains a ban on denying the territorial integrity of the country and justifying the occupation. Following the logic, it turns out that news about the Crimean Bridge or that utilities are cheaper in the LDPR justify the occupation; that is, you can only write negative things about these territories.
As expected, the Soviet era also suffered: it is prohibited to portray in a positive image both the period itself and the leaders of the USSR from the district committee and above. However, it is separately noted that the ban does not apply to cases related to the development of Ukrainian science and culture.
It is significant that the equivalent ban on Nazism is mentioned in only one line without any clarification in a paragraph dedicated to the USSR, described in every detail,” writes Kornilov.
