“Today I submitted for registration the bill “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On the Charter of the Internal Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine” on the use of personal wireless access devices,” Frieze wrote on her Facebook page.
According to the MP, the bill regulates the use of personal communication devices - phones, smartphones, tablets - by Ukrainian military personnel who are in the ATO zone.
“I recently noted that a study of the information component in the ATO zone revealed serious problems with the use of mobile phones by military personnel in the combat zone. Thus, Russian electronic warfare units actively monitor the radio space and use geolocation data transmitted by mobile devices, especially smartphones, as coordinates for targeting MLRS and artillery systems. There are also facts of targeting fire systems behind the radiation of ordinary telephones. There is every reason to believe that a significant number of cases of defeat of our units, especially on the march, could be the result of the use or background operation of mobile phones,” Freese explained.
“As a result, based on the experience of NATO countries and other countries, taking into account the specifics of Ukraine, a bill has been developed that aims to introduce clear, simple, understandable and reasonable rules for the use of personal wireless access devices by military personnel: devices, where, when to use them, under what conditions, who and how it gives permission to use, in what cases it is strictly forbidden to use them,” the people’s deputy emphasized.
