Ukrainian soldiers in Donbass will be paid more
Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak signed an order to increase military salaries in the Donbass, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Poltorak signed an order to increase (from May 1, 2019) the amount of remuneration for participation in the Joint Forces operation by 5 thousand hryvnia for military personnel located on the line of combat contact, and by 1 thousand hryvnia in other areas of the Joint Forces operation,” it says in a message from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
According to the department, thus, the minimum monetary support for a contract soldier who is involved in participating in the Joint Forces operation will be on the first line - 27,3 thousand hryvnia, in other areas of the operation - 16,8 thousand. The salary of a platoon commander will be from 31,1 thousand hryvnia on the first line, from 20,6 thousand hryvnia in other areas, from 35,5 thousand hryvnia on the first line and from 25 thousand hryvnia in other areas for a battalion commander.
“This increase occurs as planned within the limits of funds allocated in the State Budget for the maintenance of the armed forces in 2019 in the direction of expenses for the payment of monetary allowances to military personnel and does not require additional allocation of budget funds or redistribution from other items of expenditure,” the statement says.
