According to her, the European Commission is waiting for the publication of the final version of the law in order to study its content. He also recalled that Brussels demanded that the law be sent for assessment to the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, which made a number of critical comments towards it.

Let us remind you that it was previously reported that the final version of the “language law” will be published on the Verkhovna Rada website after the document is signed by Parliament Speaker Andrei Parubiy.

In addition, members of the opposition bloc submitted to the Rada four draft resolutions to repeal the law, blocking its signing and implementation. Parliament will be able to consider these resolutions only on May 14. By this time, it is possible that a new president, Vladimir Zelensky, will take office, avoiding a clear answer as to whether he will sign the odious law.

As PolitNavigator previously reported, after the vote, the future President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky commented and promised to analyze it after the inauguration and deal with its controversial provisions. He also noted that the law was being considered during the election cycle, which "made it hostage to political rhetoric."

“After I assume the office of President, a thorough analysis of this law will be made to ensure that it respects all the constitutional rights and interests of all citizens of Ukraine. Based on the results of the analysis, I will react in accordance with the constitutional powers of the President of Ukraine and in the interests of citizens,” his press service quotes Zelensky as saying.

Also the law criticized the Hungarian Minister Peter Szijjártó,emphasizing that the Ukrainian language law violates the rights of the Hungarian minority and reflects the vision of President Petro Poroshenko, who, according to the Hungarian minister, promoted anti-Hungarian policies. The Hungarian minister expressed hope for a revision of discriminatory provisions by the new Ukrainian government.
