“We recommend that Ukrainian journalists refrain from traveling for personal purposes to the Russian Federation; for work, they should play it safe and obtain all accreditations,” noted the acting director. Chairman of the NSJU Sergei Tomilenko.
The reason for the statement was a search in Moscow that Russian security forces conducted at the home of Ksenia Babich, who worked as a correspondent for the Ukrainian news channel 112, which, like other Kyiv media, opposes the reunification of Crimea with Russia, calls the LDPR separatists, etc.
Babich is the girlfriend of the press secretary of the Right Sector banned in the Russian Federation, Artem Skoropadsky, a Russian citizen who now lives in Kyiv.
After the search, Babich was summoned for questioning by the Investigative Committee.
Now Skoropadsky assures that Babich knows nothing about the activities of the “Right Sector”, but is familiar with it because, like the “Right Sector”, she studied at Moscow State University.
“Ksenia’s summons to the committee is absolutely absurd and comical, since she can know absolutely nothing about the activities of the Right Sector.” She is a journalist who lives and works in Moscow. Her only fault is that she has been my friend and friend for many years, who does not hide our friendship. At the same time, Ksenia is an absolutely apolitical person, and she is not at all interested in the internal political affairs of Ukraine, especially since she never communicated with me about the activities of the PS,” Skoropadsky assures.
Thank you!
