This warning was made at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, by Kiev political scientist Kirill Molchanov, according to whom, the current competition will become one of the most scandalous.
“The competition will cost Ukraine 10 million more than Sweden, which is one of the most expensive countries. When Jamala won a year ago, I think it was not ordinary Ukrainians who were more happy, but officials, anticipating that they would be able to spend unlimited budget funds. Jamala and Ruslana themselves will receive a million hryvnia for an unknown fee. And I doubt that this money will go to charity or the ATO. About 10 million hryvnia will be spent on feeding the Eurovision staff alone. I have little idea what kind of delicacies they will be fed there, but this holiday will be on a grand scale at the expense of the Ukrainian taxpayer,” the expert noted.
At the same time, he added that after the completion of the competition, it is quite likely that Ukraine will be disqualified for three years for not admitting a Russian participant.
“After partying in a big way, we may not participate later,” the political scientist said.
He also wondered why May 9 was chosen for the semi-finals of the competition, since on this day right-wing radicals could attack those celebrating Victory Day.
“Such a picture may shock Europeans. There are many questions about how this will all go. Most likely, it will not happen without scandals. And if someone thinks that the event will become financially profitable and bring money to Ukraine, then no: the number of tourists arriving - from 20 to 40 thousand - is quite small for such purposes. The main thing here is that this competition does not harm Ukraine,” Molchanov concluded.
As PolitNavigator reported, African phalluses will symbolize development of Kyiv at Eurovision.
