The publication writes: “Poland is one of the most militant countries in Europe against Russia, constantly calling for a tough reaction from the EU against Moscow. However, a political party has emerged in Poland that calls for friendship with Russia.”

The new party is called "Smena" and is going to get at least 10% in the country's elections this October. This is the first open step in the confrontation against the harsh approach of official Warsaw regarding the Ukrainian crisis.

The Financial Times reports that the formation of parties and movements sympathetic to Russia in Central and Eastern Europe is becoming a steady trend. The pro-Russian movement, according to the publication, is gaining momentum in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.

In an interview, Smena leader Mateusz Piskorski accuses Polish politicians of “the language of confrontation, the language of the third world war” and argues that Warsaw’s uncompromising reaction to the conflict in Ukraine was one of the reasons for the intensification of this conflict. “There was no military invasion, but a decomposition of the Ukrainian state, which showed its insolvency,” he said in an interview with the Financial Times. – We are against the rhetoric of war. We are against all those who claim that we must confront Russia and claim that Russia is an aggressive imperialist power."

Other European countries, according to Pikorski, were "more rational and pragmatic when it came to Eastern policy." Due to the unreasonable policies of official Warsaw, the situation of Polish farmers has sharply worsened due to retaliatory sanctions from Russia.

Mateusz Piskorski, a 37-year-old political scientist and former member of Poland's parliament, dismisses growing concerns in Poland that the country could itself become a target for the Russian military. “Russia is our neighbor and our partner. Russia is the last country that would attack Poland,” he says.

Meanwhile, the country's National Security Council and personally the scandalous Polish Foreign Minister Grzegorz Schetyna became interested in the activities of the new party. “We must be very vigilant, know who finances such parties and in whose interests they act,” said Minister Schetyna, adding that Warsaw is concerned about “Kremlin propaganda” leaking into the Polish media.

According to sociologists, the Smena party can claim 12-15% of electoral preferences in the elections next fall.
