“The Ukrainian state turned out to be incredibly fragile at the time of the invasion: the army is weak and demoralized, other security forces and local officials are biding their time or going over to the side of the enemy,” the author laments.
At the same time, he argues that Ukrainian society, on the contrary, allegedly “became antifragile”, since “the war united it and revealed not only the best moral qualities, but also an amazing ability for self-organization.”
“The old infrastructure of our country is fragile: bridges, pipelines, houses, power plants,” the expert admits. – The Shuliavsky Bridge syndrome is a naive belief that “it has stood for decades and will stand for a little longer.” And the bridge is tired. And fell. Fragile infrastructure is falling like dominoes - it fell here, then there, and off and on, you don’t have time to patch it up. Likewise, in the body of a person leading an unhealthy lifestyle, one organ after another “flies out”. In a fragile, outdated bureaucratic system, the collapse of one authority reinforces and accelerates the collapse of another. It has served for so many years, why should it fall now? Deadline, extreme load, lack of major repairs, general moral and physical obsolescence.”
“Our elites, political and economic, cultural and media, military and church - all are affected by the Shuliavsky Bridge syndrome. The system gives cracks, and they are patched, or sometimes simply covered with paint. It has served for so many years and will last a little longer. And she's tired. And it will fall soon,” predicts Pekar.
As PolitNavigator reported, experts came to the conclusionthat the infrastructure of Kyiv is being destroyed due to unsystematic behavior and direct violations committed by the authorities for the sake of business interests, an example of which is the collapse of the overpass on Shulyavka.
